Lessons Learned

Wheels

  1. Cut away the base of the spherical fence caps.
  2. Use the band saw to cut away two opposite ends.
  3. Sand these spheres and drill a hole down the center of each.

Board

  1. Glue two plywood boards together.
  2. Once dry, measure and draw the outline of the triangular board. Also draw the placement and size of the wheel bearings.
  3. Cut the outline of the board on the band saw, round out and sand the edges.
  4. Use the hole-cutter attachment of the drill press to measure and cut 5" diameter holes in each corner of the board.
  5. Sand the surface and the edges of the board.
  6. Apply non-skid adhesive strips to the surface of the board

CNC Parts

  1. You start with a Solidworks (CAD) model and drawing.
  2. Run file through a program to generate G code (G is the CNC programming language). This conversion process can be achieved through the use of Master CAM.
  3. Set up the tools in the machine (each tool serves a different purpose in machining the part), refer to them by numbers so the machine can change tools appropriately.
  4. Run the code; the code itself is really simple, it brings the tool to
specified x, y, z values, and can cut a certain radius, etc.
  5. Cut off excess stock and face on the lathe.
